Saint Louis University (SLU) conducted its Mid-Year Performance Review and Evaluation (MPRE) from 26 to 27 March 2025 at the Fr. Francis Gevers Hall, SLU Main Campus. The event aimed to assess the progress of the various units and clusters against their set goals, ensuring that the institution remains steadfast in its commitment to excellence, service, and faith.
In his opening message, SLU President, Rev. Fr. Gilbert B. Sales, CICM, PhD, set the tone of the event saying, “MPRE is a vital exercise of Saint Louis University. It refines us, strengthens us, and prepares us for a greater challenge ahead.” He emphasized the University’s unwavering dedication to faith, excellence, and heart of service. “We are a home of faith and learning, our leadership should not only be defined by excellence but also by empathy, care, and genuine connection,” he added.

The program then commenced with an overview of the MPRE by the Director of the Office of Institutional Development and Quality Assurance (OIDQA), Mr. Hector L. Martin. He discussed the review’s structure and objectives, establishing a clear direction for the discussions that followed.

MPRE Day 1
The Mission and Identity Cluster, represented by Mr. Gaston Kibiten, Head of Museum of Igorot Culture and Arts (MICA), gave a performance report that included the Center for Campus Ministry, Community Extensions and Outreach Program Office (CEOPO), Sunflower Child and Youth Wellness Center, and MICA.
Afterward, presentations by the SLU Sacred Heart Medical Center (SLU SHMC) were given through Dr. Danilo J. Flores, Jr., SHMC Medical Director, and the Finance Cluster, through Mr. Allan Frank B. Silva, Assistant Treasurer, followed. Ms. Delia C. Latawan, Internal Auditor, then presented the MPRE on Internal Audit.
Further, reviews of the units of the Administration Cluster were presented by Ms. Maria Ellami S. Refuerzo, CCW Director, centering on Student Support Services units: CCW, Center for Culture and Arts (CCA), Center for Sports Development (CSD), Office of Student Affairs Services (OSAS), Health Services Unit (Dental Clinic and Medical Clinic), Residence Halls, and Talged Center.
Mr. Jeffrey Gamit, Head of the Campus Planning, Maintenance and Security Department (CPMSD), represented the Administrative Support Group/Uni-wide Services and presented their report covering CPMSD, Data Protection Office (DPO), Human Resource Department (HRD), and Office for Legal Affairs (OLA).












For the Academic Cluster, performance reports were presented by each School and their respective head.

- School of Advanced Studies (SAS) – Dean Faridah Kristi Wetherick, PhD
- School of Engineering and Architecture (SEA) – Associate Dean, Engr. Caroline Bautista
- School of Nursing, Allied Health, and Biological Sciences (SONAHBS) – Dean Ann Opiña, PhD
- School of Law (SOL) – Dean, Atty. Yasmine Lee Tadeo
- School of Medicine (SOM) – Dean, Dr. John Anthony Domanta, PhD
- School of Teacher Education and Liberal Arts (STELA) – Dean Mary Pauline Namoca, PhD
After the cluster reports of Day 1, Fr. Sales gave feedback, affirming that SLU is on the right track, “We are all doing a good job,” he said. He further expressed that while the institution is continuously maintaining a standard, the different units are encouraged to be more intentional with their involvement in religious activities. “We can think about something you can do for the community that takes the form of outreach,” he reminded.
MPRE Day 2
On the second day, the Cluster Budget Review Workshop was held that included discussions on budget performance and financial planning. Central to this was the Budget Orientation discussed by Vice President for Finance and Quality Management Head Roberto M. Arguelles, PhD.

The MPRE concluded with a Eucharistic celebration celebrated by Fr. Sales with con-celebrants Rev. Fr. Emery Mwako Ebumea, CICM and Rev. Fr Emanuel Enjang Pranatal, CICM.
In his homily, Fr. Sales said, “The progress we have seen in our institution the past years – the milestones that we have achieved, the innovations that we have implemented in our departments, the students we have empowered – is not by chance. It is through our collaboration, hard work, but most especially God’s guidance that we continue to drive.”
After the mass, the different clusters conducted their meeting and workshop in response to the two-day performance review.
The MPRE is a testament to SLU’s commitment to upholding its mission to excellence and quality assurance aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) set by UNESCO, particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education), 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), and 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
