On 25 April 2025, Saint Louis University (SLU), through the volunteers from School of Law- Chief Justice Manuel V. Moran Community Legal Assistance Office (CJMM CLAO) traveled to Sitio Andolor in Tabaan Sur, Tuba, Benguet, to carry out the gift-giving activity titled “Backpacks of Hope: Filling Backpacks with School Supplies and Dreams.”

The activity provided 65 young learners with school supplies to support their education. Each backpack, filled with essentials generously donated by the SLU community, was meant to help the children continue their studies with the tools they need to succeed.

The day was filled with simple but meaningful moments—children enjoyed games, shared laughter, and received their school supplies. It was a time for community building and a reminder that every child has the potential to achieve their dreams, given the right support.
Anchored in the CICM Advocacies of Justice and Indigenous Peoples’ Advocacy, the activity reflected the values of service and care for others that Saint Louis University upholds. It also contributed to the achievement of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 1 – No Poverty, SDG 4 – Quality Education, and SDG 10 – Reduced Inequalities, by ensuring that every child has access to the resources needed for their education.

As the event concluded, the smiles of the children showed the success of the day—not only were they equipped with supplies, but they also felt encouraged and supported to continue their education.
Through these acts of kindness, SLU contributed to creating a more hopeful and inclusive community. (Article by Saint Louis University School of Law (SLU SOL) and Chief Justice Manuel V. Moran Community Legal Assistance Office (CJMM CLAO)
