Saint Louis University alumnus Clarence John B. Lucido, placed 8th with an 85.83% rating during the Batch 14 Certified Operations Management Specialist (COMS) examinations facilitated by the Center for Professional Advancement and Continuing Education, Inc. (CPACE) held last 13 September 2025.
CPACE is a professional organization that provides professional development and continuing education opportunities to individuals and students for their career and professional growth. Being an industrial engineer with work experience in operations management qualified Lucido to take the exam for COMS.
Lucido, a 2019 graduate of the SLU Industrial Engineering program of the School of Engineering and Architecture (SEA), currently works as an Industrial Engineer Analyst at Philippine Batteries Inc. Since graduating, he has practiced his profession in various industries in Supply Chain Management, E-commerce Operations, Warehousing and Logistics Operations, as well as Business Excellence, with a strong focus on Continuous Improvement that relies on advanced data analysis to enhance business performance.
Before enrolling in the BS Industrial Engineering program, Lucido took courses in other engineering fields during his first two years of college. In his second year, he observed a project presentation in room H609 of the Otto Hahn Engineering Building where students used statistics to justify their recommended improvements. This fascinated him and inspired his decision to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering.
Taking the IE course has led to a lot of opportunities for Lucido, and his achievement in passing the COMS exams may also become an advantage for his career, as soon as he wants to take leadership roles. (Article by the SEA IE Department)
