The Saint Louis University (SLU) Association of Geodetic Engineering Students (AGES) successfully held its annual Acquaintance Party for the academic year 2025-2026 on 16 November 2025 at the Otto Hahn Engineering Building, SLU main campus. The event’s objective was to promote socialization and familiarity among the students fostering an active community for active participation and a sense of belonging and camaraderie. It also bridged the relationship gap between the new members and the old, creating new friends.
New students were introduced to the organization’s executives, goals and upcoming activities, which gave them an understanding of AGES’ role in their academic journey. Senior members shared their experiences and insights, offering guidance and support to newcomers. This included a presentation on the use of different types of modern geodetic instruments to teach the younger members of the instruments respective uses and how to operate.

The event also incorporated team-building activities designed to encourage collaboration and problem-solving skills. These exercises provided fun and engagement and mirrored the importance of teamwork within the geodetic engineering profession. Through these activities, students fostered stronger bonds with their peers and developed valuable soft skills crucial for their future careers.
The success of the AGES Acquaintance Party paved the way for a promising year for the organization, potentially setting a positive tone for upcoming activities and fostering a collaborative environment for students to learn and grow together. This contributed to the overall development of future geodetic engineers equipped with technical skills and strong communication and teamwork abilities.
The event created a stimulating and interactive learning environment where students could exchange knowledge, ask questions, and gain valuable insights from their peers and seniors. It promoted lifelong learning and a culture of collaboration within the program. Moreover, the acquaintance party reflected CICM’s advocacy for peace by creating an inclusive environment that encourages relationship-building and mutual respect among students. Additionally, it aligns with SDG 4 by enhancing educational engagement, and SDG 17 by fostering peace, justice and strong community.
