Saint Louis University (SLU) Nursing faculty and students earned multiple awards at the 3rd International PhD Symposium in Nursing themed “Nursing Scholarship: Advancing Practice, Education, and Research in Response to Emerging Health Needs.” The prestigious event, held at the University of the Philippines Manila College of Nursing on 24-25 November 2025, highlighted SLU’s commitment to excellence and its growing impact on the global nursing community.
SLU nursing researchers, April Anne Balanon-Bocato and Maria Karmela Del Rosario, were recognized as Best Presenter in Research Presentations and Best Presenter in the Three-Minute Thesis Competition. Their achievements represent SLU’s commitment and the excellence of the students who continue to contribute meaningful research to their community and to the university.


The event highlighted global health challenges and innovations through doctoral research from international students. It included keynote speeches, scholarly presentations, a 3-minute thesis competition, and collaborative discussions.




This year’s symposium advanced medical knowledge and global health by uniting researchers, educators, and PhD students. Representing SLU’s Nursing faculty were Mark Job Bascos, PhD, Raymund Mamayson, PhD, and Genevive Claire Antonio, PhD.
