Saint Louis University (SLU) School of Teacher Education and Liberal Arts (STELA) joined the Department of Education–Cordillera Administrative Region (DepEd-CAR) in celebrating 2025 Education Week on 5 December 2025 at the DepEd-CAR Regional Office Covered Courts, Wangal, La Trinidad, Benguet.
This event highlighted the collaborative efforts of government agencies, private institutions, and various stakeholders in advancing the quality of education across the region. It also served as a space to share achievements and discuss gaps and challenges being faced by the education sector. Assistant Regional Director Ronald B. Castillo opened the program with a call for “stronger partnerships and deeper commitments in education that uplifts and transforms.”
The event featured messages of support from agency heads, a Stakeholder’s Forum with media partners, and the awarding of plaques of recognition to notable education partners.
Regional Director (RD) Estela P. Leon-Cariňo, EdD, CESO III discussed the current gaps in education that range from the lack of facilities and equipment to the damages of schools from the recent typhoons. Alongside this, during the Stakeholder’s Forum, the media brought up current issues with bullying, lack of classrooms, among others. In response, despite the existing hindrances of accessing quality education, DepEd-CAR emphasized that they remain persistent in addressing these gaps and that they aim to sustain government assistance for students in private schools.
Further, SLU showcased the programs and initiatives it conducted in partnership with DepEd through a video presentation that included the Science Teacher Academy for the Regions, Inclusive Education Resource Center, and SEA-Teacher Project (Pre-Service Student Teacher Exchange in Southeast Asia). This was followed by a message from STELA Dean Mary Pauline E. Namoca, PhD who expresses her gratitude to DepEd for their continuous support to delivering quality education.
