The Louisian community came together on 19 December 2026 at the Saint Louis University (SLU) Sunflower Centennial Halfway Home for the Boys for “LOVE, JOY, HOPE: A December to Remember,” a Christmas outreach initiated by the Junior Philippine Institute of Accountants (JPIA). The activity, which transformed the season into an experience of genuine care and shared humanity, was envisioned not simply as an act of giving, but as a moment of presence, connection, and service for the boys under the care of the halfway home.
In the days leading up to the outreach, from December 12 to 18, JPIA conducted a donation drive that welcomed both monetary and in-kind contributions. These collective efforts became the foundation of the outreach, allowing the organization to prepare a simple yet meaningful Christmas celebration for the boys. While modest in form, the gathering carried a warm and sincere atmosphere shaped by intentional interaction, shared moments, and the spirit of service that defined the entire activity.
The highlight of the day was a mini-Christmas party filled with games, laughter, and meaningful interactions. JPIA officers and members actively joined the boys in playing games and getting to know them personally, creating moments of trust and joy that went beyond the program itself. Gift-giving followed, accompanied by a shared meal of spaghetti, shanghai, and buko pandan salad, all prepared and brought by the organization. These simple gestures fostered a sense of belonging and made the celebration memorable for both the beneficiaries and the volunteers.

The outreach was made possible through the generosity of JPIA donors, including Ma’am Lorie Ann Barry, Ma’am Elaine Lubguban, Ms. Zandra Belandres, Ma’am Elvira Dacayo, Sir Nolie Tigas, Ma’am Dolores Tigas, and the JPIA 41st Chapter for monetary donations. In-kind contributions were generously extended by Ma’am Glory De La Peña, Dean of the School of Accountancy, Management, Computing, and Information Studies (SAMCIS), and Sir Rowell Falsis. Their support reflected a shared commitment to service and compassion, strengthening the culture of solidarity within the Louisian community.
At its core, the event embodied advocacies aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. SDG 2, Zero Hunger, and SDG 3, Good Health and Well-Being, were reflected through the provision of nourishing meals and the creation of a joyful and emotionally supportive environment. SDG 10, Reduced Inequalities, was upheld by extending care and attention to children in vulnerable circumstances, affirming their dignity and worth. The outreach also supported SDG 16, Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions, by fostering fairness, compassion, and respect, while SDG 17, Partnerships for the Goals, came to life through the collective efforts of students, donors, and the institution working toward a shared purpose. Anchored in the CICM value of justice, the activity emphasized the importance of standing with those on the margins through meaningful and compassionate service.
More than a Christmas gathering, “LOVE, JOY, HOPE: A December to Remember” stood as a testament to service lived out in action. It affirmed that genuine outreach is measured not by grandeur, but by presence, empathy, and the willingness to serve with sincerity. Through shared time and simple acts of care, the initiative reaffirmed JPIA’s commitment to justice-driven service and to creating spaces of hope and dignity for those they serve.
