In a proactive move to reinforce institutional data protection and cybersecurity standards, Saint Louis University (SLU), through its Data Protection Office (DPO), conducted a Data Privacy and Security Training Program for its outsourced service partners, Diamond Star Security and Investigation Agency, Inc. and Gentle Blossoms Janitorial Services on 18 February 2026 at the Waldo Perfecto Building, SLU Main Campus.

Organized in coordination with the Campus Planning, Maintenance, and Security Department (CPMSD), the whole-day training formed part of the University’s ongoing implementation of the Data Protection Office’s Privacy and Security Program Services for the Third Party Partners of SLU. The activity reflected the institution’s commitment to cultivating a culture of data protection and shared responsibility across all operational levels. The sessions were facilitated by Mr. Engels Antonio, Philippine National Police (PNP) National Advisory Group for Police Transformation and Development (NAGPTD) Auditor and Ms. Magie Antonio, the Asia Pacific Data Privacy Organization Country Head.

Recognizing that security guards and general service personnel regularly encounter physical records, identification documents, access points, devices, and restricted areas, the program emphasized their critical role in safeguarding personal and institutional data. While often positioned as frontline support staff, these personnel serve as vital partners in preventing unauthorized disclosures, physical security breaches, and cybersecurity incidents.

Aligned with United Nations Sustainable Development Goals 4 (Quality Education), 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure), 12 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions), and 17 (Partnership for the Goals), this activity supported the STEALTH (Systems and Technologies for Ethical Accountability, Leadership, Transparency, and Harmony) SDG Program of the Data Protection Office.
