On 10 April 2026, Saint Louis University (SLU) held a number of essential engagements in San Quintin, Pangasinan, for daycare workers, farmers, and senior citizens, which is a big step in community growth.
Marilyn L. Balmeo, PhD gave daycare providers a special training session at the National Child Development Center (NCDC) on useful tips on how to help kids with special learning needs to ensure that every child in San Quintin gets the proper care and support they need for optimal growth.
Mr. Sabado Padtoc facilitated a wellness program for the senior citizens at the town’s auditorium. This is another activity that helped the elderly plan and do activities that will help them age in a healthy and active way. Through this initiative, the municipality wanted to create a supportive environment where older people can thrive and remain involved by meeting their specific needs.
Richel Lamadrid, PhD gave a talk on upcycling for local farmers at the town’s gymnasium. The conference discussed sustainable practices with farmers that can improve both their lives and the environment through creative upcycling methods to reduce food waste.

The partnership between San Quintin and SLU demonstrates that they are both committed to fully developing the community by meeting its educational, health, and environmental needs through targeted, expert-led interventions.
This project aligned with SDGs 2 (Zero Hunger), 3 (Good Health and Well-Being), and 4 (Quality Education), as well as the CICM Advocacy on Justice and Peace. It is part of the first phase of cooperation between the Local Government of San Quintin, Pangasinan, through Hon. Mayor Farah Lee Lumahan, and SLU, through the programs of Rev. Fr. Gilbert B. Sales, CICM, PhD, and Rev. Fr. Emery E. Mwako, CICM.
The series of programs was coordinated and facilitated by Executive Assistant to the SLU President, Joselito C. Gutierrez, PhD, Mrs. Delia C. Quero, Municipal Social Welfare Development Officer, and Mr. Anthony David L. Neri, Social Welfare Officer, of the Local Government Unit of San Quintin, Pangasinan.
