Saint Louis University (SLU) reinforced its commitment to continuous improvement and professional development by sponsoring the participation of non-teaching personnel of the Office of the Internal Auditor (OIA), Internal Quality Auditors Mrs. Shyra Marie E. Leal and Mrs. Delia C. Latawan, in the Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt Certification and Training Program. The intensive two-day event took place on 23-24 May 2026 at the St. Giles Hotel, Makati.
The program equipped participants with essential skills to identify process gaps, eliminate inefficiencies, and foster a culture of excellence in the workplace. Through a rigorous curriculum featuring interactive discussions, pop quizzes, a hands-on simulation project, and a comprehensive written examination, both SLU representatives successfully earned their Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt (CLSSYB) certifications.
In addition to their certifications, the SLU delegates achieved top honors: Mrs. Leal was recognized as Best Presenter and both Mrs. Leal and Mrs. Latawan were members of the Best Group for the Yellow Belt Simulation.

Lean Six Sigma is a globally recognized methodology that focuses on improving organizational processes by reducing variation, eliminating inefficiencies, and promoting data-driven decision-making. By investing in this certification program, Saint Louis University empowers its non-teaching staff to contribute more effectively to the institution’s mission of providing quality service to its stakeholders.
This initiative underscores SLU’s commitment to United Nations Sustainable Development Goals 4 (Quality Education) and 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) by continually investing in the upskilling of its workforce, eliminating operational waste, and fostering an institutional culture of excellence.
