The Saint Louis University (SLU) Sunflower Pedagogical and Developmental Center (SPDC) commemorated National Children’s Month on 22 November 2025, with a fun-filled celebration centered on creativity, learning, and family engagement. The event featured a variety of interactive activities, including pancake decorating, storytelling, art and crafts, coloring, and face painting, providing children with meaningful opportunities to learn and play in a nurturing environment.
One of the highlights of the celebration was the pancake cooking and decorating activity, where children, with the assistance of their parents and guardians, prepared and decorated their own pancakes before enjoying them together. A creative art corner was set up for the young participants, offering a wide range of hands-on activities. Children crafted bracelets, folded origami, and created simple figurines using various art materials. A coloring station allowed them to express their creativity, while the face-painting booth added excitement and transformed the children with vibrant and imaginative designs.
The celebration brought together approximately 100 children, accompanied by their parents and guardians. With the support of SPDC’s teachers and staff and student volunteers from the Basic Education School and the Architecture Department of the School of Engineering and Architecture, the event was successfully conducted in a safe, enjoyable, and inclusive atmosphere. Beyond providing a day of fun, the activities promoted creativity, imagination, fine motor development, hand-eye coordination, social interaction, and family bonding.
The event reflected the Center’s continuing commitment to nurturing children’s holistic growth and celebrating their rights, talents, and potential in line with the spirit of National Children’s Month.
