The CICM and Saint Louis University (SLU) had a long-standing record of being a strong ally and promoter of Environmental Preservation, Climate Change, Human Rights, and Laudato Si. Rev Fr. Gilbert B. Sales, CICM, PhD, SLU President, forged an alliance with the Dominicans for Justice and Peace in promoting the handbook Climate Change and Human Rights Education for Youth in the Philippines.
With the theme Eco-Consciousness and Technology: Exploring Sustainable Living in the Digital Era, Saint Louis University’s (SLU), through its University Research and Innovation Center (UnRiC), Office of Student Affairs and Services (OSAS), and CICM Community Extensions and Outreach Programs, hosted the City Government of Baguio-sponsored climate change summit at the Fr. Francis Gevers Hall, SLU, on 24 October 2023.
American Corner Baguio, in partnership with the Saint Louis University United Nations Sustainable Development Goals Center (SLU-UNSDG), hosted a two-day Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative YLSEALI Learns MOOC Camp with the topic, “Climate Crisis: Addressing 5 Key Areas for Change.”
In a move to address the pressing issue of climate change, Baguio City Mayor Benjamin B. Magalong issued Executive Order No. 154, series of 2022, creating the Climate Change Council. SLU President Rev. Fr. Gilbert B. Sales, CICM, is appointed as one of the Members of the Climate Change Information Education Campaign Committee.
