The Young Entrepreneurs’ Society (YES) actively participated in the School of Accountancy, Management, Computing, and Information Studies (SAMCIS) event FRIENDS Career Fair with the theme, “Local Talents for Global Markets” on October 7, 2022, at the Bishop Carlito Cenzon Sports Center. The fair was held in partnership with Erasmus Friends and was initiated for all graduating Lousian students of the first semester for the school year 2022-2023.
This event was organized to equip students to provide extra hand and apply their competencies honed through exposure to the employment market. It is also to help members develop the mindset and skills necessary to succeed in business, measuring the growth of members’ businesses, such as revenue or customer base.
Moreover, the career fair was a success, attracting students and providing them with a valuable opportunity to learn about different career paths and to network with potential employers.
The fair targeted the following Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): SDG 5 – Gender Equality; SDG 8 – Decent Work and Economic Growth; SDG 9 – Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure; SDG 10 – Reduced Inequalities; and SDG 17 – Partnerships for the Goals.
While the fair was successful, the organization still plans to expand its scope. They recognize that while mindset is a crucial element of entrepreneurship, there are other critical areas that entrepreneurs need to master, such as marketing, financial management, and strategic planning. The organization is considering expanding its scope to cover these and other relevant topics to provide a more comprehensive education to its members.
