In furtherance of Mental Health Literacy, especially among community leaders and organizations in the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) and given Saint Louis University’s steadfast commitment to social involvement, Dr. Faridah Kristi C. Wetherick, the Dean of the School of Advanced Studies (SAS) and a Board Member of the Psychological Association of the Philippines (PAP) was invited to conduct a lecture on Mental Health and Psychological First Aid last November 25, 2022, at the Mountain Lodge in Baguio City. Participants were from the Local Government Units (LGUs) of Abra involved in ongoing rehabilitation efforts after the series of earthquakes that hit the province. Other participants were from NGOs in Baguio City.
The event was organized by the Cordillera Disaster Response and Development Services (CorDisRDS) in coordination with the Community Health Education Services and Training in the Cordillera Region (CHESTCORE) and the Cordillera Women’s Education, Action, Research Center (CWEARC). These organizations’ projects are supported by international organizations such as the EU Humanitarian Aid and Oxfam, as well as national organizations like Assistance and Cooperation for Community Resilience and Development, Inc.
