The Junior Financial Executives of the Philippines (JFINEX) hosted a Career Preparedness Seminar entitled “Be in Business: Equipping Young Professionals” at the Devesse AVR at Maryheights Campus, Saint Louis University (SLU) last 3 May 2023. The seminar was attended by fourth and third year Financial Management students.
Esteemed speaker, Dr. Mark Anthony Latoja from Saint Louis College, covered topics such as Resume and Cover Letter Writing, Interview Tips, Power of Building Networks, and Landing the Job/Internship You Desire.
The seminar enhanced the educational experience of the students by providing them with practical skills and knowledge that complement academic learning. It also supported the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDG) Quality Education and Decent Work and Economic Growth.
By equipping individuals with the necessary skills and knowledge to enter the job market successfully, career preparedness enhances their employability, increases their chances of securing meaningful employment, and promotes job satisfaction and fulfillment.
Furthermore, the program helped bridge the gap between education and employment by equipping individuals with skills that are in demand, fostering entrepreneurship, and encouraging innovation. Lastly, it plays a role in shaping individuals’ attitudes, values, and choices in the workplace. By instilling ethical practices, fostering social responsibility, promoting environmental awareness, and highlighting sustainability-oriented careers, career preparedness can contribute to a more environmentally conscious workforce and support the overall integrity of creation.
JFINEX is a co-curricular organization of the School of Accountancy, Management, Computing and Information Studies (SAMCIS) fervent in uplifting and improving the Financial Management education through constant involvement of the members in various activities embracing the four core values of SLU.
