Saint Louis University’s Geodetic Engineering students emerged victorious in the National Geodetic Engineering Quiz Show, titled “GE KA NA BA? THE NATIONAL GE QUIZ SHOW,” held during the National Geodetic Engineering Summit (NatGES) x Geodetic Engineering Students National Convention (GESC) 2023 and the first-ever GE National Consortium events on 8 to 9 May 2023, at the University of the Philippines Diliman, Manila.
The team, composed of Mr. Jimmerry Gadeja, Mr. James Lee Molino, and Ms. Angelica Mungcal, demonstrated their extensive knowledge of geodetic engineering concepts and principles, outperforming 14 other participating schools from all over the Philippines.

The quiz show consisted of two rounds: elimination and final. After excelling in the elimination round, the team secured the top spot and advanced to the final round, where they outperformed four other participating schools.
The team’s success resulted from hours of dedicated study and review of GE-related subjects. They meticulously prepared by studying previous quizzes and familiarizing themselves with the show’s mechanics and guidelines. Engr. Apolonio A. Walsiyen, their coach, played a pivotal role in guiding the team to victory, and his expertise significantly contributed to their success.
SLU also bagged third place for the Research Colloquium. It was one of the convention’s highlights, allowing students to present their hard work to their peers, engineers, and professors. It was a proud moment for the researchers as they displayed courage and confidence while defending their research before a panel of experts.
Aside from the Quiz Show and the Research Colloquium, SLU and other schools also participated in the talks, seminars, and a social night provided by the GESC.
The NatGES x GESC 2023 is an annual gathering of Geodetic Engineering students and professionals serving as an avenue primarily for Geodetic Engineering students to learn more about their future careers through talks and demonstrations from different companies and research organizations.
