Saint Louis University (SLU) welcomed 26 delegates from the the Ministry of Trade, Investments and Tourism of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (MTIT-BARMM) and representatives from the Department of Trade and Industry Cordillera Administrative Region (DTI-CAR) last 22 May 2023, as it facilitated the Coffee Quality Training and Benchmarking from 21 to 26 May 2023 in Benguet, Philippines.
The training centered on the best practices of the Benguet Coffee Project and the current state of the coffee industry in Benguet. SLU’s extension partnership with Wyldwood Coffee and Cacao made it the first University-wide extension project in the province.
Furthermore, there was also a discourse on collaborative efforts between different coffee stakeholders and the academe in closing the Coffee Value Chain.
The brief conference concluded with a steaming cup of authentic coffee served at the university’s Benguet Coffee Project Cafe. Located at the 4th Floor, SLU Sacred Heart Medical Center, the Cafe is an outlet for ethically sourced traceable local coffee.
