The BS ECE 3rd year students of the Electronics Engineering Department of Saint Louis University garnered 3rd Place in the First National Flagship Competition of Texas Instruments Philippines Inc. (TIPI), entitled “InnovateIt!: Shaping the Future of Electronics” held last May 12, 2023, at Texas Instrument Clark, Pampanga. The team members include Laurence Layco as the team leader, Angelica Noel Napalan, and Alyssa Supsup as members.
The objective is for groups of engineering students to apply their knowledge and skills and demonstrate their ingenuity outside of the classroom by creating a project proposal. Students must identify a real-world problem and propose an innovative solution using concepts in their respective fields revolving around the theme: Internet of Things (IoT) Applications, Autonomous/Collaborative Robots, and Automation and Digitalization. Challenges such as working on real projects and presenting them to a panel of key leaders in the company will drive students to refine their ideas and perfect their presentation skills as they vie for exciting prizes. The competition aims to develop future engineering innovators and equip them with experiential learning and comprehensive hands-on design experiences to not only master the basics but be prepared for the start of their careers.
Ten top universities joined the flagship in the Philippines in the preliminaries and five in the finals, where Saint Louis University was able to qualify.
