Representing the Philippines in the Asia Pacific Arts Festival (APAF) 2023, Hannah Leonor Torio, a 2nd-year Bachelor of Arts in Communication, took home the gold trophy in the Contemporary Dance Category at Alliance Francaise, Bangkok, Thailand last 25 June 2023. Torio is part of the Performing Arts Studio Philippines in Dagupan City, which was invited to the competition.
APAF is an international festival that seeks to pursue harmony, global friendship, and peace through diversified cultural exchange programs and Performing Arts competitions. It has been successfully held since 2013 with participants from China, Indonesia, Korea, Singapore, Philippines, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia and other countries.
Torio and her team performed their winning contemporary piece using the song ICON by Cobra, choreographed by their Artistic Director and dance instructor, Choni Young. Her team consists of the following members:
