by the Medical Outreach Mission Fellowship Initiative
In collaboration with the Rural Health Unit of Sablan and the Rotary Club, the Medical Outreach Mission Fellowship Initiative (MOMFI) led a medical mission in the communities of Barangay Balluay and Bagong, Sablan, Benguet on 25 July 2023.
The medical mission was sponsored by Hydroelectric Development Corporation (HEDCOR), an Aboitiz Power subsidiary that has generated renewable energy from run-of-river hydropower systems for over 40 years, as healthcare is a part of the primary advocacy for its host community.
The medical mission catered to about a hundred underserved people of Barangay Balluay and Bagong. Medical assistance included medical consultation, eye, ear, nose, and throat services, and laboratory tests such as capillary blood glucose, uric acid, cholesterol level determination, urinalysis, CBC, and Dengue NS1.
This endeavor is in line with Sustainable Development Goals 3 (Good Health and Well Being), 16 (Peace Justice and Strong Institutions,) and 17 (Partnership for the Goals). It also strengthens the CICM Advocacy of Justice Peace and Integrity of Creation, as well as the JEEPGY Value of Engaged Citizenship.
