As the seat of the Private Education Assistance Committee (PEAC) in the region, Saint Louis University hosted the PEAC Orientation on GASTPE Programs of the Department of Education last August 4, 2023, at the Fr. Francis Gevers Hall, which was attended by more than 200 school principals and registrars.
Rev. Fr. Gilbert B. Sales, CICM, PEAC-CAR Regional Program Director, reiterated the role of private schools in providing quality basic education. Fr. Sales shared that SLU is giving its best to assist and coordinate whatever support SLU can give to other private schools in the region, namely, the training for teachers with CEAP-CAR and SLU-STELA and the installation of STARBOOKS with DOST.
The speakers in the orientation were officers of the PEAC National Secretariat: Miss Precy L. Labao on the Updates on PEAC, Miss Donna E. Coloma on “Certification of Participating Schools,” Mr. Rodrick Edsel B. Malonzo on “Processing of Billing Documents and Monitoring of Participating Schools and ESC Information Management System and SHSVP Management System,” and Mr. Red Gallego on “Data Privacy Protection.”
The event was also graced by DepEd Usec Annalyn M. Sevilla, Undersecretary for Finance, Dr. Estela L. Carino, and DepEd-CAR Regional Director, represented by Dr. Clemente D. Bandao, Chief, Quality Assurance Division.
In the afternoon, 13 ESC participating schools were recognized for having passing rates during the re-certification processes.
