Promoting children’s welfare and providing psychosocial interventions, Saint Louis University Sunflower Child and Youth Wellness Center (SCYWC) and the Department of Social Welfare and Development Field Office – Cordillera Administrative Region (DSWD Field Office-CAR) signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) on 22 November 2023.
The MOA signing was held at the Alejandro Roces Board Room, Burgos Building as part of the Children’s Month celebration. It aimed to sustain and strengthen the partnership and linkages between the two institutions.
DSWD-CAR’s Regional Director Leo Quintilla and Dr. Joselito Gutierrez, Executive Assistant to the President, who represented the University President Rev. Fr. Gilbert Sales, CICM spearheaded the MOA signing. The SCYWC Team along with the Center Heads, Social Workers, and Psychologist from DSWD-CAR’s residential care centers such as the Reception and Study Center for Children, Regional Rehabilitation Center for the Youth, and Regional Haven for Women and Girls participated in the signing event.
The MOA signing marked the continuation of the partnership between SLU’s SCYWC and DSWD Field Office-CAR in providing psychosocial interventions to children in the Cordillera region and nearby provinces. The two institutions will also collaborate in doing advocacy programs for the promotion of children’s welfare.
This partnership is in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 3: Good Health and Well-being, which aims to ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages.
