Demonstrating an unwavering commitment to advancing educational excellence, Saint Louis University’s President, Rev. Fr. Gilbert B. Sales, CICM, PhD, clinched re-election as member of the Board of Trustee for 2024-2025 of the Philippine Accrediting Association of Schools, Colleges, and Universities (PAASCU) during the organization’s 2023 General Assembly held on 21 November 2023 at the Manila Marriott Hotel, Pasig City.
With the theme “PAASCU in Light of EDCOM II”, the assembly centered on deliberations over EDCOM II Priority Areas and the IQA-EQA (ASEAN QA Framework), and culminated in the election of the membership of the Board of Trustees, results of which were presented by Atty. Joseph Noel M. Estrada of Estrada & Aquino Law.
The afternoon session hosted parallel workshops, addressing critical topics such as “Simultaneous Sessions with Workshop: HEI Operationalizing and Institutionalizing IQA Systems in Higher Education” and “BED: Measurement of Learning Outcomes”, further emphasizing the assembly’s focus on enhancing educational quality standards.
SLU School of Medicine garners PAASCU Recognition
In another milestone for SLU, the University’s School of Medicine (SOM) received PAASCU recognition for the significant role it played in relation to the 10-year recognition granted to PAASCU by the World Federation of Medical Education (WFME) . With this, the School was presented a Plaque of Appreciation for the warm welcome extended to the WFME assessors who conducted an audit of the Association’s accreditation visit to its Basic Medical Education Program on 22 November 2022.
The School’s PAASCU recognition is a testament to the unwavering dedication and high engagement of its administrators, faculty, students, and staff in upholding Quality Assurance.
In recognition of their invaluable contributions, Mr. Alejandro P. Pablico, School Principal of Basic Education School; Dr. Roberto Marasigan Arguelles, Vice President for Finance and Quality Management Head; Dr. John Anthony A. Domantay, Dean of SLU’s SOM; Dr. Cynthia Posadas, Consultant of Sunflower Pedagogical Development Center; and Dr. Cecilia Mercado, Data Protection Officer and University Instruction Development Committee (UIDC) Member were recognized for their long-standing service to PAASCU as Commission members.
PAASCU is a service-oriented body dedicated to accrediting and ensuring the quality of academic programs among its member schools. The Association is committed to conducting institutional accreditation and supporting member schools in their quest for enhanced quality grounded in each institution’s unique educational philosophy, vision, and mission.
