The Chief Justice Manuel V. Moran Community Legal Assistance Office (CJMM CLAO) conducted a Free Legal Aid and Notarization last 26 February to 2 March 2024, during Session Road in Bloom 2024. Through its Law Student Practitioners (LSPs) who rendered services under the supervision of their Supervising Lawyers (SLs), the CJMM CLAO gave legal advice and offered free notarization to locals and tourists alike, extending its community work to a total of 112 clients.
With its philosophy of bringing the law closer to the grassroots and the vulnerable sectors, the CJMM CLAO continues the tradition of civil service through its LSPs as aided by their SLs. Beyond the confines of the school, the letter of the law is given life through the initiatives of the student-run office, instilling Christian spirit, innovation, competence, and social involvement, in accordance with the CICM’s advocacy of Missio et Excellentia.
The success of the event was made possible with the support of the Baguio Flower Festival Foundation, Inc., European Union, GoJust Programme, and Dativa Cristobal Foundation, Inc.
The activity is a testament to the continuing efforts of the CJMM CLAO to live the CICM’s mission of nurturing persons for the community, providing access to justice and being instruments of protecting rights, in accordance with the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions).
