The Baguio Association of Government Grantees and Scholars (BAGGS) successfully concluded its 2025 Membership Drive held from 19 to 22 August at the Diego Silang Lobby, Saint Louis University (SLU) Main Campus. The week-long initiative aimed to increase awareness of BAGGS’ role in supporting government scholars, recruit new members, and promote a culture of academic excellence and civic engagement among students. With the active participation of officers, volunteers, and university support, the event drew widespread attention from the SLU community.
During the four-day event, the BAGGS booth became a hub for interaction and inquiry. BAGGS executive officers provided detailed information on BAGGS’ vision, history, and ongoing programs, which include peer mentoring, leadership training, academic support, and outreach projects for underserved communities. Digital sign-up forms, printed brochures, and visual displays were made available, making the registration process accessible and engaging for all interested students. Officers also conducted short orientation sessions every afternoon to provide a more in-depth understanding of what it means to be part of the BAGGS community.

In addition to the registration booth, special activities were held to engage prospective members and strengthen connections. A “Meet the Scholars” session featured testimonials from current members who spoke about how BAGGS positively influenced their academic journey and personal growth. These sessions fostered an open environment where prospective members could ask questions, share their expectations, and build connections with fellow scholars. Informal games were also conducted to encourage participation and spark interest among passersby.
By the end of the campaign, 130 new members had officially signed up—exceeding expectations and marking a significant step toward expanding the organization’s reach. These new recruits come from various courses and departments, adding diversity and fresh perspectives to the association. The new members will be invited to a formal orientation program in September, followed by a series of onboarding activities and opportunities to participate in volunteer projects and academic events throughout the year.

BAGGS extends its sincere gratitude to the Saint Louis University administration, the Office of Student Affairs, and all student leaders and volunteers who contributed to the success of the drive. The event not only achieved its recruitment goal but also reinforced the spirit of community and collaboration that defines BAGGS. With a growing membership and continued support, the organization remains steadfast in its mission to uplift government scholars and nurture future leaders. (Photos and article by BAGGS)
