Saint Louis University – Sacred Heart Medical Center (SLU SHMC) unveiled the new Office of Patient Experience (OPE) on 03 September 2024 through a blessing ceremony officiated by the University President, Rev. Fr. Gilbert B. Sales, CICM, PhD.
Under the leadership of Dr. Paul Adlai B. Quitiquit, Hospital Administrator, the OPE transforms the ever-constant supportive administration of patient and clinical care function into a strategic, operational, and culture-shaping role throughout all facets of SLU-SHMC to achieve “premium patient experience and care for all beyond clinical outcomes.”
The OPE is responsible for creating and implementing a patient engagement and development program that spans the patient’s healthcare delivery journey at SLU-SHMC. Dr. Aldren R. Remon, RN, Chief Patient Experience Officer, leads the center in creating a long-lasting experience by providing SHMC patients and clients with patient-centered and long-lasting value-added services.
The OPE supports important channels and facilities like the Executive Suites, with accommodations extended or with wellness check-ups of international and traveling patients. Other patient experience programs are also facilitated like the Patient and Family Council, inpatient services application, Universal Health Care navigation system and referral channel, patient loyalty programs, telecommunications and social media support, and patient satisfaction data collection and reporting to ensure SLU-SHMC’s brand of excellence.
The OPE is vital to the SLU-SHMC’s goal of being patient partners through health and wellness services, patient service, out-patient and in-patient engagement, as well as the Patient Navigators Program that are aligned with UN Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 3 Good Health and Well-Being. It is also aligned with the CICM Advocacy of Justice, Peace and Integrity of Creation (JPIC). (Article by AR Remon | Photos by SLU SHMC)
