Saint Louis University (SLU) civil engineering students emerged as a shining beacon of excellence in the 39th Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers National Civil Engineering Student’s Quiz (PICE NCESQ) held on 31 August 2024 at the DPWH CAR MP Hall, Baguio City.
The competition saw a convergence of the best and brightest from Saint Louis University, University of Baguio, University of the Cordilleras, Baguio Central University, Apayao State College, Ifugao State University, and Kalinga State University. Each institution sent its honorable teams to vie for the high spot, aiming for a chance to represent the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) in the grand finals.

Kasler Dell Abansi (Saint Louis University) stood out as the champion of the regional elimination, and Franz Rudolf Ruiz (Saint Louis University) secured the first runner-up title. Joaquin Gabriel Ang (Saint Louis University) and Darwin Ancheta (Apayao State University) filled the second runner-up spots. The success of Abansi, Ruiz, and Ang is the fruit of strong mentorship provided by the CE/GE Department Head and Faculty Coach Engr. Janice Kaye Aquino and Faculty Coach Engr. Eleazar Santiago.
Kasler Dell Abansi’s victory will represent CAR in the grand finals of the 39th PICE NCESQ, scheduled to take place in November 2024. Their journey to the national stage marks a significant milestone for Saint Louis University and highlights the University’s commitment to fostering excellence in civil engineering education.

Their achievement is a testament to a true Louisian Spirit, asserting the CICM Advocacy of Justice, Peace, and Integrity of Creation (JPIC) and aligning with United Nations Sustainable Development Goals 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities (SDG 11).
