The Saint Louis University (SLU) Association of Geodetic Engineering Students (AGES), committed to building an active and companionable student community, recently concluded a successful membership drive that involved the registration of old and new members from different years and programs who wish to become a part of the organization. The event was successfully held in front of the GE Faculty Room on the first floor of Otto Hahn from 11-15 August 2025. A total of 189 members registered, demonstrating the strong appeal and reach of the organization’s initiatives.
The primary goals of the membership drive were to increase participation by inviting new students to join the association and encouraging returning members to renew their membership. Additionally, the AGES Membership Drive aimed to strengthen member engagement by promoting involvement in various activities, leadership roles, and providing access to exclusive events organized by the AGES community.
Preparations for the membership drive began a week prior to the event, with the officers utilizing promotional materials and social media platforms to inform and encourage students to participate during their free time, ensuring that class schedules were not disrupted. Registered members are also entitled to receive an ID at a later date, which can be used when borrowing surveying instruments. The drive not only met but exceeded its goals in engaging new members, renewing existing ones, and fostering active student engagement.
The initiative aligns with several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities), and SDG 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions). (Article and Photos from SLU-Association of Geodetic Engineering Students )
