Saint Louis University (SLU) achieved considerable gains in the Times Higher Education (THE) Sustainability Impact Ratings 2026, moving up to the 401-600 band, among 1,603 institutions globally. This is a significant stride from its 2025 rating, when the University ranked within the 601-800 range among institutions worldwide.
SLU received the certification through Hector L. Martin, PhD, the SLU Office of Institutional Development and Quality Assurance (OIDQA) Director during the THE Global Sustainable Development Congress being held at Jakarta Indonesia from 22 to 25 June 2026. Now in its fifth run, the said congress “brings together research, business, government and higher education to accelerate sustainable transformation.”
The university’s overall ranking is based on four qualifying or mandatory Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) submissions, reflecting areas where SLU performed well in this cycle: SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-Being), SDG 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation), SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities) and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals.
Notably, SLU submitted entries in all SDGs. Its rankings in each of SDGS are reflected below:
- SDG 1 No poverty: Rank 401-600
- SDG 2 Zero hunger: Rank 301-400
- SDG 3 Good health and well-being: Rank 201-300
- SDG 4 Quality education: Rank 801-1000
- SDG 5 Gender equality: Rank 201-300
- SDG 6 Clean water and sanitation: Rank 101-200
- SDG 7 Affordable and clean energy: Rank 401-600
- SDG 8 Decent work and economic growth: Rank 601 to 800
- SDG 9 Industry, innovation and infrastructure: Rank 601-800
- SDG 10 Reduced inequalities: Rank 601-800
- SDG 11 Sustainable cities and communities: Rank 101-200
- SDG 12 Responsible consumption and production: Rank 401-600

The results of the THE Sustainability Impact Rankings released on 24 June 2026 underscore SLU’s steadfast commitment to sustainability as an integral part of its academic, research, and community initiatives.
