Saint Louis University’s School of Engineering and Architecture (SLU SEA) launched the KuSEAna Project, a compassionate response to address food insecurity among students, faculty, and staff on 26 and 28 September 2023 and 14 November 2023 at the Otto Hahn Building Lobby, SLU.
Operated as a version of the Soup Kitchen, this initiative extended its support not only to students but also to faculty and staff members who are facing the challenge of food insecurity, recognizing the profound impact it can have on their academic journey and overall well-being.
Driven by the spirit of volunteerism within the SEA family, the KuSEAna Project operated with quiet dedication, ensuring that no member of the SLU community goes without a nourishing meal. Volunteers, mostly SEA students, faculty, and staff, dedicated their time to preparing and serving meals, creating a welcoming environment where individuals can access hot meals before exams or starting their work.
Beyond simply offering food, the KuSEAna Project fostered community and support, emphasizing that the university extends care beyond classrooms. It also served as a reminder of the network of support within the SLU community, prioritizing the basic need for nourishment.
Further, this project underscored SLU’s commitment to its members’ well-being, providing sustenance, solidarity, and compassion.
