Saint Louis University (SLU) through the School of Advanced Studies (SAS) and the Sunflower Child and Youth Wellness Center (Sunflower CYWC) conducted a 3-day training-workshop on psychosocial processing for children, teenagers and adults using the Psychological First Aid (PFA) framework. The objective was to capacitate participants, mainly community leaders and workers from the Cordillera Region, in providing the necessary psychosocial assistance to affected communities post-disaster and thus, addressing their mental health and wellbeing needs.
This activity is part of SLU’s advocacy to sustain and advance SDG 3 on good health and well-being by addressing mental health concerns and promoting resilience amidst adversity. The training-workshop was held at the Ritz Hotel in Baguio City from 23-25 September 2023, and was facilitated by the Sunflower CYWC Staff headed by Ms. Jennifer M. Garcia and the SAS Dean Dr. Faridah Kristi C. Wetherick together with MS Psychology Candidate Mrs. Ailyn Jam M. Dela Cruz and MS Psychology Practicum students.
