Rachel Salinel, a distinguished alumna of Saint Louis University in the Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication program from the class of 1987, has been recognized as the Global Filipino Special Awardee of Excellence in Global Broadcast and Journalism by The Global Filipino Icon Awards 2024.
This recognition is a testament to her exceptional contributions to journalism and her unwavering dedication to the Filipino community. Salinel, who has also been named one of the 10 OFWs of the Year in the United Arab Emirates by the Overseas Filipino Awards 2023, is an inspiration for many. As a Senior Correspondent for The Filipino Channel of ABS-CBN News, she skillfully narrated the stories of overseas Filipinos, capturing both their struggles and victories across UAE and Africa.
For two straight years, Rachel Salinel stood out as one of the most prolific freelance broadcast journalists for TFC News in the Europe, Middle East, and African (EMEA) Region. Salinel’s ability to highlight the resilience and achievements of Filipinos abroad has garnered her admiration and respect. Her storytelling goes beyond mere reporting.
