SLU delegates headed by the university president Rev. Fr. Gilbert Sales, CICM, attended the CICM Philippines School Network (CICM-PSN) Governance Assembly (GA) held on November 21-23, 2022 at Saint Mary’s University, Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya. The CICM-PSN is a group of schools established by CICM Philippines to advance the educational apostolate and evangelical and international religious missionary congregation founded by Theophile Verbist in 1862. The CICM-PSN operates in close collaboration with the CICM Philippines Provincial Committee on Education (PCE).
Currently, the Network is composed of six schools all over the Philippines: Saint Louis College – City of San Fernando, Saint Louis College – Cebu, Saint Louis University – Baguio, University of Saint Louis Tuguegarao, Saint Mary’s University, and Maryhill School of Theology.
The CICM-PSN GA is held to promote greater collaboration among member schools, standardize institutional operational procedures, true to the CICM’s motto “One Heart, One Soul”. To address the myriad of operational concerns, clusters were formed based on what particular aspect each office is concerned with. These clusters are as follows: Mission and Identity which includes Christian Formation, Community Engagement, and CICM Advocacies; Academics, Administration which includes Human Resource Department, Finance, Institutional Development and Quality Assurance, and Presidents’ Cluster. Research, Libraries, and Student Affairs and Services are sub-clusters under particular main clusters.
All delegates arrived and registered in the afternoon of November 21, 2022 followed by a welcome dinner and socialization. The second day started with a Eucharistic Celebration followed by the Governance Assembly. This year’s CICM-PSN GA focused on the review and approval of the CICM-PSN vision and mission statement. In addition, the body set the upcoming Strategic Plan for AY 2023-2028 that will be presented and approved during the CICM-PSN GA of 2023 (to be hosted by SLC-San Fernando, La Union). Discussions per cluster focused on the Key Strategic Objectives and Cluster Key Result Areas and Activities as a Network. For the third day, each cluster came up with resolution
The CICM-PSN was inaugurated under the auspices of Rev. Fr. Renillo H. Sta. Ana, CICM under whose leadership (2016-2019) the framework for the Network was laid. Rev. Fr. Rex C. Salvilla assumed leadership for the years 2019-2020, continuing to build on the good foundations already established by the previous leadership. Although the activities of the network ground to a halt due to the COVID-19 pandemic early 2020, efforts to resume Network operations have been put forward starting Academic Year 2022-2023 through the leadership of Rev. Fr. Macwayne N. Maniwang, CICM as the new PSN chair.
