The Psychology Department celebrated “Psyche Night 2023: Of Mystery and Mayhem” last March 25 at the Paragon Hotel for the first time since the pandemic. The Psyche Society organized this event to revive the Psychology Department’s long-standing tradition of coming together to celebrate its existence and forge memories that heal the heart.
The night was filled with laughter, dancing, games, and cheeky fun as the students and professors mingled outside the typical classroom setting. As participants trickled into the venue, attendance was checked, and safety reminders were imparted. After a short prayer, the program started off with games to get the participants fired up. They then took to the dance floor to show off their moves before dinner was served. The pinnacle of the night came in the form of the Mr. And Ms. Psyche Night ceremony, as the candidates fought in a battle of wits to win the crown. The night concluded with a dance number led by the Psychology Faculty.
The event was a positive experience for the participants, allowing them to relax, unwind, and connect meaningfully with others in alignment with SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being and the CICM advocacy of Integrity of Creation. Consequently, the connections forged allow for a stronger sense of belonging and compassion, accomplishing SDG 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions, and the Justice and Peace CICM advocacies.
