In partnership with CEAP-CAR, Saint Louis University through Rev. Fr. Gilbert B. Sales, CICM, SLU President and CEAP-CAR Council Member, sponsored a seminar-workshop for in-service teachers that responds to the theme “Upgrading Learning Delivery of Private and Catholic Schools,” held from July 22-24, 2023, at Fr. Gerard Decaestecker Hall, SLU SHS Building, Navy Base, Baguio City.
Various essential topics such as Framework in Upgrading Learning Delivery for Private and Catholic Schools, Curriculum Alignment and Mapping, Upgraded Learning Delivery for Private and Catholic Schools, Learner-Centered Teaching Strategies through MELCs, Designing Authentic Assessment Using the MELCS, and The Need to Upgrade the Learning Delivery through the Most Essential Learning Competencies (MELCs) were delivered by Dr. Joselito C. Gutierrez, Dr. Stephenie O. Busbus, Dr. Felina P. Espique, and Dr. Geraldine S. Wakat.
Through the seminar-workshop, the 135 participants from the Vicariates of Tabuk and Bontoc-Lagawe, Pines Montessori, Shekinah Learning Center, Free Believers Christian Academy, Little Flowers Children’s Foundation, Nazarene School of La Trinidad, and Immaculate Heart School of La Trinidad were able to produce curriculum maps that follow alignment principles.
CEAP-CAR Regional Trustee Rev. Fr. Joker Moamar Gamatero shared an inspirational message with the participants, while Mrs. Annie Marie B. Caguioa, CEAP-CAR Secretary challenged the teachers to continuously prepare quality lessons for the students of private and Catholic schools in the region. Other CEAP-CAR Council members present during the event were Sr. Margarita Angupa SIHM, Mr. Lowie Mateo, and Mrs. Georgina Alipio, Treasurer, who managed the program’s logistics.
This 3-day seminar-workshop was granted 13 CPD Units by the PRC under PTR 2016-022-2580 and is aligned with the CICM Advocacies on Justice, Peace, Integrity of Creation, and Indigenous Peoples’ Apostolate, CEAP Advocacies on Justice and Peace, Engaged Citizenship, Ecological Integrity, and Media Education, and SDG Goals numbers 4 (Quality Education), 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), 10 (Reduced Inequalities), 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production), 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions), and 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
