In its steadfast commitment towards promoting sustainability and providing clean drinking water, Saint Louis University (SLU), through its President, Rev. Fr. Gilbert B. Sales, CICM, inaugurated three more “Water is Life” free water refilling stations at the campuses of the SLU Basic Education School (BEdS) on 1 March 2024.
This third inauguration marked the fulfillment of installations across all SLU campuses (SLU Main Campus, SLU Maryheights Campus, SLU Gonzaga Campus, and SLU Navy Base Campus).
With SLU being the first higher education institution in the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) with a free water refilling station for all students, employees, and visitors, Rev. Fr. Gilbert reminded everyone to use it to the best of their abilities and to lessen the use of plastic bottles.
In partnership with KB World Trading Corporation, this project underscores SLU’s dedication to providing not just water, but clean and safe water, aligning with its broader mission to foster a sustainable campus environment through the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), specifically SDG 6 Clean Water and Sanitation for All.
“Water is Life” refilling stations are the very testament to SLU’s ongoing commitment to provide not just water but clean and potable water to every corner of SLU.
It can be recalled that on 28 November 2023, SLU and KB World held the blessing of the water refilling station, Water is Life, at the Diego Silang Building in the SLU Main Campus, Bonifacio St. and on 12 February 2024, the second station opened at the SLU Maryheights campus.
