In a dynamic tribute to Women’s Month, the KASAMA SSC STELA hosted a compelling seminar on 8 March 2024, titled “EmpowHER: A Deepdive into the Plight of Women.” This event served as a platform to dissect the multifaceted challenges confronting women and ignite discussions surrounding gender equality and empowerment.
The seminar commenced with a thought-provoking keynote address by Ms. Chloe Rossete Angluben, a distinguished and prominent leader. Ms. Angluben delved into the intricate landscape of Women in Leadership, shedding light on issues such as Imposter Syndrome and entrenched workplace inequalities that hinder women’s progress. Through personal stories and hard-hitting facts, she emphasized the urgent need for change to create fairer environments for female leaders.
Following Ms. Angluben’s engaging presentation, Ms. Audrey Corce from INNABUYOG – Regional Alliance of Grassroots Women’s Organizations in the Cordillera, took the stage. With a deep appreciation for indigenous culture, Ms. Corce explored the historical contributions of Cordilleran women. Her narrative showcased the resilience and influence of these women in shaping the region’s identity, inspiring attendees to honor and elevate their voices.
As the seminar wrapped up, Ms. Chatrina Lunag, the STELA 4th Year Vice Mayor, delivered a stirring closing message. Her call to action urged participants to be catalysts for change, emphasizing the power of unity in the fight for gender equality and women’s empowerment.
In essence, EmpowHER was a platform for meaningful dialogue and collective action, underscoring the Assembly’s commitment to advancing the rights and dignity of women. EmpowHER echoes the principles of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 5 (Gender Equality and Goal), and 10 (Reduced Inequalities), and was further imbued with the ethos of the CICM Advocacy of Justice. This advocacy underscored the seminar’s commitment to addressing the challenges faced by women while promoting inclusivity and diversity in leadership roles, thus amplifying the collective call for justice and equality.
