The University of San Jose-Recoletos conducted a benchmarking activity on May 28, 2024, at Saint Louis University Basic Education School Senior High Department.
The delegation from the University of San Jose-Recoletos involved esteemed faculty members of the Accountancy, Business, and Management (ABM) strand, including Michael Bryn D. Ortiz, Wilma B. Asis, Mari Ann A. Fernandez, Angelina P. Otom, Ailene Pearl L. Castro, and Irene S. Villaver.
Upon their arrival, the faculty were warmly welcomed by the SLU BEdS Administrators: Mr. Alejandro P. Pablico, Mrs. Lorna E. Lucas, and Mr. Roy C. Asignacion. They were also joined by the Learning Area Coordinator (LAC) for ABM and Immersion, Mrs. Evangeline M. Wayagwag, along with faculty members of the ABM strand, Ms. Ma. Bernadita M. Rivera, Mrs. Rudiliza C. Mboe, and Mr. Joselito T. Kitongan.
The primary focus of the benchmarking activity was to exchange best practices within the ABM strand. Both institutions recognized the importance of such engagements in nurturing continuous improvement for the students.
Saint Louis University showcased its inclusive approach to extending services beyond the school premises, reaching out to far and less privileged communities. The program adopts a school-based immersion, where students engage in practical activities that mirror real-world business environments. Moreover, SLU emphasizes the use of eco-friendly materials during their entrepreneurship day, reflecting their commitment to sustainability.
Meanwhile, the University of San Jose-Recoletos prides itself on partnerships with external organizations. The subjects they offer align with the major areas of specialization that students aim to pursue. This approach not only enhances the relevance of their curriculum but also prepares students for future professional endeavors.
The exchange of ideas during the benchmarking activity provided a valuable opportunity for both institutions to reflect on their practices and learn from each other’s experiences. During the visit, Mrs. Lorna E. Lucas also provided an in-depth overview of the teaching load, duties, and responsibilities of teachers and learning area coordinators. Her presentation offered the University of San Jose-Recoletos faculty a clear understanding of SLU’s administrative and academic structures, further enriching the benchmarking experience.
The benchmarking activity concluded on a positive note, with both institutions expressing their commitment to ongoing collaboration and mutual support.
