In an effort to elevate sports management and ensure the accreditation of technical officials, a comprehensive three-day seminar and workshop was held from 31 January to 2 February 2024 at the Social Hall of Mangaldan National High School. Organized by the Department of Education Pangasinan Division Office II. The event was attended by around eight hundred participants representing various sports and municipalities across Pangasinan.
The program for Day 1 was divided into two topics: Organization and Management in Sports, and Accreditation of Technical Officials. Therein, as an invited Resource Speaker, Leonardo Cariño from the Physical Education Department of the School of Teacher Education and Liberal Arts was tasked to talk on Sport Arnis based on his field of specialization and discussed Sports Management, where 30 teachers registered to participate.
On the second day, the rules and regulations of Arnis Sport as the National Sport of the Philippines by virtue of the RA 9850 was discussed and hand signals and gestures were taught to the participants. Moreover, there were six participants assigned for Demo Teaching as part of the assessment based on the topics regarding sports management and accreditation on the third day.
The seminar not only equipped educators with essential skills in Sports Management but also fostered camaraderie and collaboration among participants from diverse backgrounds. By empowering educators with the knowledge and tools to promote sports excellence, the seminar aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals 3 (Good Health and Well-being) and 4 (Quality Education), promoting physical activity and fostering a culture of learning and development in sport communities.
