Part of the advocacies of Saint Louis University President Rev. Fr. Gilbert B. Sales, CICM, PhD, is to assist the private and Catholic schools from the region and nearby provinces in their curricular enhancement by upgrading lesson delivery especially in Harmonization of GMRC and Values Education with Christian Living Education, and deepening one’s Catholic identity and mission.
In line with this, on 20 September 2024, Executive Assistant to the SLU President, Joselito C. Gutierrez, PhD, met the first batch of Catholic educators from the Diocese of Baguio at the Diocesan Pastoral Center, Brgy. Bakakeng, Baguio City and gave a lecture on the Roles of Teachers in Catholic Schools.
On 25 September 2025, Dr. Gutierrez then gave a lecture on Harmonization of GMRC and Values Education with Christian Living Education to the Catholic Educators of Region 3 at La Consolacion University in Malolos City, Bulacan.
Moreover, the SLU MATATAG Curriculum Trainers were invited by the Association of Private Schools of the City of San Fernando La Union on 21 September 2024 at Central Ilocandia College of Science and Technology (CICOSAT) Colleges to give a training on the Instructional Design Framework, Table of Specification, Test Construction, and Rubric Preparation that are aligned with the MATATAG Curriculum.
The response of SLU to the invitation of various educational groups and associations manifests the steadfastness of the university’s mission in improving the quality of education in the Cordillera Administrative Region and beyond. Hence, such initiatives totally concretize the CICM Advocacies on Justice and Peace and UNSDGs 4 (Quality Education) and 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions).
