Saint Louis University – Sacred Heart Medical Center (SLU-SHMC) bagged the Gold Award of the Seddiqi Holding Excellence Award for Social and Environmental Responsibility during the International Hospital Federation Awards 2025 during the 48th World Hospital Congress at Campus Biotech, Geneva, Switzerland, on 12 November 2025.

Extension in Action: Designing Sustainable Legacies in Higher Education

On 5 November 2025, the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Regional Office I convened the R1 Structuring Harmonized Alignment of Research and Extension Strategies (SHARES) 2025 Seminar held at Patio by Balai Norte, San Juan, La Union. With the theme “Extension in Action: Strengthening Communities for Sustainable Development,” the seminar gathered research directors, coordinators, and extension leaders from higher education institutions across Region I. Jeramie N. Molino, PhD, Sustainable Research Extension Officer of Saint Louis University’s Research, Innovation, and Sustainable Extension (RISE) Center, was invited as the Resource Speaker to deliver a lecture on “Sustainability Strategies of Higher Education Institutions for Extension Programs.”

From Research to Impact: SLU participates in 1st National IMPACT Conference and 9th TBI Summit 2025

The inaugural National IP Management Program for Academic Institutions Commercializing Technologies (IMPACT) Conference, organized by the Department of Science and Technology – Philippine Council for Industry, Energy, and Emerging Technology Research and Development (DOST-PCIEETRD) and branded as SALIKSYNC, gathered innovators, educators, researchers, and policymakers nationwide to advance knowledge and technology transfer efforts in the Philippines. Held on November 5-6, 2025, in Bacolod City, the conference centered on the theme “From IMPACT to NXT Horizons: Surging the Next Wave of Knowledge and Technology Transfer.” It highlighted the vital need to move research beyond academic publication toward creating meaningful, tangible benefits for communities, industries, and society at large.

SLU reclaims PSQ Regional Crown, advances to December National Finals

Jian Daniel Rariza (BSCE 1) of Saint Louis University’s School of Accountancy, Management, Computing and Information Studies (SAMCIS) clinched the title of Regional Champion at the 29th Philippine Statistics Quiz (PSQ) – Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) Championships held on 7 November 2025 at Baguio Central University, Baguio City. Representing SLU alongside him was Ms. Dalean Villanueva (BSGE 1), who also delivered a strong performance. Both students were guided by their coach, Mr. Clarenz Magsakay from the Mathematics Department.

Advancing Ethical Research Through AI: SLU faculty participate in IASPER Training-Workshop in Bacolod City

The International Association of Scholarly Publishers, Editors and Reviewers, Inc. (IASPER) hosted a transformative training-workshop on Artificial Intelligence (AI)-Integrated Research Advising and Paneling at Acacia Hotel Bacolod, Bacolod City from 9 to 11 October 2025 at Acacia Hotel Bacolod, Bacolod City. The event gathered scholars and educators from across the country to explore the evolving landscape of research mentorship, paneling, and publication ethics in the age of artificial intelligence.

Project STELAKaakibat provides health assistance for flu prevention

To proactively respond to the increasing number of flu cases within the university, the KASAMA/SSC STELA Assembly proposed a strategic and compassionate collaboration with the Red Cross Youth – Saint Louis University (RCY-SLU) through Project STELAKaakibat: STELA SSC x RCY-SLU. Scheduled on 28-29 October 2025, from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, this two-day health assistance initiative aimed at providing immediate flu-prevention support to students, particularly those frequenting the high-traffic Perfecto Building. RCY-SLU extended its support through volunteer manpower and the provision of available health supplies, reinforcing a shared commitment to student welfare, institutional solidarity, and the values of Compassion, Christian Spirit, and Competence.

Saint Louis University (SLU), represented by Mr. Hector L. Martin, Director, Office of Institutional Development and Quality Assurance, and Joselito C. Gutierrez, PhD, Executive Assistant to the SLU President, attended the AUN-QA International Conference 2025 with the theme “Fortifying Higher Education: Strategic Quality Assurance for Resilience and Institutional Immunity in ASEAN” held at Universiti Malaya, Malaysia from 5 to 7 November 2025.

AWMA-SLUSC conducts E-Waste Collection Drive

As part of its ongoing advocacy for environmental stewardship and responsible waste management, the Air and Waste Management Association – Saint Louis University Student Chapter (AWMA-SLUSC) conducted a five-day E-Waste Collection Drive from 13 – 17 October 2025. The initiative aimed to raise awareness about the harmful effects of improper e-waste disposal, providing the Louisian community with a direct means of contributing to the cause, and ensuring the proper collection and disposal of electronic waste.

SLU holds 3-Day Basic Incident Command System Training

To even reinforce its commitment to strengthening crisis management capabilities, Saint Louis University (SLU), through its Campus Planning, Maintenance, and Security Department (CPMSD), held a three-day Basic Incident Command System (BICS) Training in partnership with the Office of Civil Defense Cordillera Administrative Region (OCD-CAR) from 5 to 7 November 2025 at the Fr. Gevers Hall, Diego Silang Building, SLU Main Campus.
